Low-carb Grits

Combine real grits with our ExpertExtras Grits Mix extender to make your favorite type of grits the low-carb way.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ExpertExtras Grits Mix Extender
  • 1 teaspoon quick grits
  • Pinch salt

     

Directions

Makes one serving.

Stove-top version:

1. In a 1-quart saucepan combine water, ExpertExtras Grits Mix Extender, grits and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.

2. Remove from heat when grits cooked to your taste.

Microwave version:

1. Coat a 1-pint container with non-stick spray.

2. Add water, reducing amount to 1/2 cup. Whisk in ExpertExtras Grits Mix Extender, grits and salt.

3. Microwave for 1 minute (depending on the type of oven settings), remove and whisk to break up large lumps.

4. Repeat step 3 until grits reach desired thickness.

Serving suggestions: Season with butter, cream or cheese to your taste.
